- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle
- Pompom maker (optional)

Abbreviations
- CO: Cast on
- K: Knit
- P: Purl
- Sts: Stitches
- K2tog: Knit two stitches together
Instructions
Brim
- Using the blue yarn, CO 80 sts. Join in the round, being careful not to twist, and place a marker to mark the beginning of the round.
- Knit 6 rounds in a 1x1 ribbing pattern: *K1, P1* repeat from * to * around.
Body
- Change to a two-color pattern. Begin knitting with blue and yellow alternately by alternating two rows of each color:
- Rows 1-2: With blue, K all sts.
- Rows 3-4: With yellow, K all sts.
- Continue in this pattern until the piece measures 9 inches from the CO edge.
Shaping the Crown
- Switch to blue and begin decreasing:
- Round 1: *K8, K2tog* repeat from * to * around. (72 sts)
- Round 2: Knit all sts.
- Round 3: *K7, K2tog* repeat from * to * around. (64 sts)
- Round 4: Knit all sts.
- Round 5: *K6, K2tog* repeat from * to * around. (56 sts)
- Round 6: Knit all sts.
- Continue this pattern, decreasing by one less stitch before each K2tog on odd rounds, and knitting all stitches on even rounds, until you have 8 sts remaining.
Finishing
- Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through remaining sts using the tapestry needle, pull tight to close the top of the hat, and fasten off securely.
- Using the yellow yarn, create a pom-pom using a pompom maker or by hand. Secure it to the top of the hat.
- Weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
Your colorful pom-pom hat is now complete and ready to wear!
